Winter
To every thing there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
Today I started a new job or should I say, my calling has been heard and answered. I am now a proud member of CAREgivers for Home Instead Senior Care.
My first assignment was for 3.5 hours. The aging husband and wife live in assisted living. Many thoughts went through my brain as I considered what my task would be. Would they be happy, confused, grumpy, mundane....? My first hour was uneventful as they had full bellies from lunch. I woke the husband because the previous CAREgiver had told me that he needed to go to the Cookie Social that afternoon. As I waited for him to slowly crawl out of bed, I noticed a photo of a 1968 Camero on the wall. I had to ask, "Is that your baby?" You all know what the answer was....YES! That's the fastest car on the road. Followed by the technical stuff about the car. His wife came back from her afternoon stroll and joined our lively conversation. We covered the Saint Paul Winter Carnival, salmon fishing off the Sound in Washington State, sports, and other points of interest.
We never made it to the Cookie Social but we had a social of our own! I could tell that all the talking had tired this former Winter Carnival King Boreas.
Though the minds aren't as sharp, wonderful memories of day past filled our present.
